Examples of Composite Projects undertaken

  • Thermoplastic pultrusion: development of complete process technology for the manufacture of high fibre volume fraction profiles using glass fibres with the client’s proprietary resin which had stringent process requirements.   • Thermoset pultrusion: optimisation of existing manufacturing set-up, combined with improvement of resin slurry formulation to enable product to be manufactured with improved surface finish, of consistent quality, and all at a higher line-speed
  • Thermoset pultrusion:transformation of existing setup to enable successful manufacture of epoxy pultrusion including change of resin formulation, fibre management, and process control all improvements and process trials specified and supervised via Microsoft Messenger over the internet to minimise costs.
  • Thermoplastic Pultrusion development of technology for PEEK coated carbon fibre reinforced PEEK rod with 4-core cable in long lengths for offshore application
  • Product evaluation-set-up and commissioning of physical and analytical testing facility for thermoset composite manufacturer to enable quality assurance and development of new products
  • Process optimisation: of manufacture route for complex thermoplastic composite part: Consultancy provided route from lab-top single product process all the way through to highly automated continuous manufacturing process. This started with low-cost improvements to the existing process to improve consistency and throughput immediately and provided route for automation in the future.
  • Specialised Product testing: dynamic testing of automotive crash structures at elevated temperatures and analysis of results.
  • Thermoplastic Pultrusion: development of technology for manufacture of a gel-coated profile made from 99% recycled plastic and continuous glass fibres
